Your Desires Are Legitimate

Your Desires Are Legitimate

Wolf eye

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to feel your true desires?

Without guilt, shame, or second-guessing?

For many of us, especially those who have spent years adjusting to others’ needs and expectations, the idea of honoring our own desires can feel foreign or even selfish.

We’ve been taught to believe that to desire something is dangerous, unruly, or frivolous.

But they aren’t.

The loudest voices in our minds often say: Who am I to want more?”

Who are you to want less?

Here’s the truth—your desires are legitimate.

Desires are not random. They are a key part of your inner compass, guiding you toward what’s truly aligned with your heart.

Desires are not cravings or distractions—they are expressions of your most

They reveal what brings you alive and what holds deeper meaning for you.

Religions and society may have conditioned us to be suspicious of desire, but that suspicion usually targets craving, not the deep, soul-driven desires that help us grow and evolve.

Cravings are short-lived—they seek to fill a void.

Desire, on the other hand, is rooted in who we are and who we are becoming.

When we truly allow ourselves to desire, we step into our freedom.

The act of recognizing and honoring your desires is a radical act of self-love.

It’s saying to yourself: My needs, my wants, my dreams matter.”

In this, you reclaim your authenticity, moving beyond the endless adjustments of people-pleasing and into the clarity of what you truly value.

So today, I invite you to reflect on what you desire. Not the surface-level cravings, but the deep desires that speak to your heart.

Write them down. Acknowledge them. Because you deserve to take up space. You deserve to want.

Your desires are legitimate.

With love and freedom,

Bruce
